Monthly Mentors had yet another year of fun activities and great memories! Our partnership with the 6th - 8th grade classes at Santa Lucia Middle School in Cambria, California, has grown even more. Cal Poly students continued to do activities with the middle school students in their Google Meet classrooms. A presentation on SWE, engineering, and a specific engineering discipline was given and then the volunteers would go through a hands-on activity based on the engineering discipline. These activities only required common household items, in order to accommodate students who may not have the same resources that a school environment would provide. The students learned about aerospace, aeronautical, and biomimetics. As they transitioned to in-person, we were still able to do a visit online. We cannot wait for next year as everyone is safe and can fully transition back to in-person!
