Monthly Mentors is going strong in its second year with an extremely successful fall quarter! The main focus of this fairly new program is to expand our outreach efforts to students who may find it difficult to attend our on campus events due to distance, available resources, or weekend commitments.
On the middle school side, we have partnered with 6th and 8th grade classes at Santa Lucia Middle School in Cambria, CA. Throughout the fall, volunteers have traveled to Santa Lucia Middle School to give a presentation on an engineering discipline and run a related, hands-on lab each month! So far, the students have explored Aerospace, Civil, Computer Science, and software engineering! We have had so much fun learning about the students and their interests and cannot wait for them to continue surprising us throughout the rest of the year!
